Suggested slug: walmart-free-laptop-phone-offers
Looking for a Walmart free laptop or phone? Start with the terms. Walmart’s own student page says it does not give out free laptops. You can shop for low-cost models, but that is a sale, not a gift.
Some phone deals work in a different way. You may get a $0 phone when you buy a set plan. The phone can cost nothing while the phone bill still costs money.
This guide shows what to check, who may get help, and where to apply. It also lists other routes if a store deal does not fit your budget.
Can you get a free laptop from Walmart?
Walmart does not list a free laptop plan for all shoppers. Its student laptop page points to school aid and low-cost PCs.
So, do not treat a post about a “Walmart laptop grant” as proof. Check the offer on Walmart’s site first. Look for the group that runs it, the rules, and a clear way to get help.
Also, you may see a free trial or free shipping. But that does not make the laptop free. Check what the offer covers before you buy.
Walmart phone offers you can check now
Phone offers change with the store, stock, and plan. The deal below was listed when this guide was checked. Ask your store to confirm it before you pay.
Straight Talk Galaxy A17 5G offer
Straight Talk advertises a free Samsung Galaxy A17 5G with the start of a Silver Unlimited plan or a higher plan. The offer is for new and current customers.
For Walmart, the terms call for in-store plan activation. Online orders through Straight Talk need the phone and the right plan in the same bundle.
The posted terms say:
- The offer runs through January 10, 2027, while stock lasts.
- Tax and fees apply.
- There is a limit of two phones per customer.
- You cannot combine it with other offers or family plans.
The Silver plan’s base rate is $45 a month. At that full rate, six months of service costs $270 before tax and fees. A plan discount would change that total.
So, check the full cost over the time you plan to use it. The $0 price refers to the phone, not months of free service.
Check the store deal and the online price
A phone’s web page may show a price above $0. The free-phone deal may need an in-store step or a set plan bundle.
Ask the store to show how the offer applies to your order. Then check the receipt before you leave. Do not buy the phone first and assume you can claim the deal later.
Also ask if the phone is locked to a network. If you want to switch later, read that carrier’s unlock rules first.
Other Walmart deals that may help you save
These offers serve different needs. Check which cost they reduce before you sign up or shop.
| Offer | What it may give you | What it does not promise |
|---|---|---|
| A phone-and-plan deal | A $0 phone with a paid plan | Free phone service |
| A laptop sale | A lower price on a PC | A no-cost device |
| Walmart Restored | A used or restored device for sale | A new or free laptop |
| Walmart+ Assist | A lower-cost Walmart+ plan | A free laptop or phone |
Laptop sales and Walmart Restored
First, check the full price, not just the saving on the tag. Then compare the same model, storage size, and condition at more than one store.
Walmart Restored lists devices that are not new. A used PC may cost less, but read the full listing. Also check who sells it, what comes in the box, and how returns work.
Before you buy, ask:
- Will it run the apps I need for school or work?
- Does it come with a charger?
- How much use has the battery had?
- Does the system still get security updates?
- Who handles a fault, and for how long?
A cheap PC that cannot run your class software may not be a good deal. So, ask your school for its tech needs before you shop.
Walmart+ Assist
Walmart+ Assist cuts the cost to join Walmart+. You may qualify if you get certain forms of aid. These include SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, and SSI.
The listed price is $6.47 a month or $49 a year, plus tax. Walmart uses SheerID to check that you qualify. Start on Walmart’s site and follow its sign-up steps.
This offer cuts the fee to join. You still pay for a laptop or phone. Also, a free trial does not include a free device.
Free items through the review program
Walmart has a Recognized Reviewer Program. Selected shoppers can get free items in exchange for honest reviews.
You need an invite from Walmart. It is free to join if selected. But the program does not promise every shopper a phone or laptop. Tax rules may apply to free review items.
Use the rules on Walmart’s site to check an invite. Do not pay a stranger for access to the program.
Who qualifies for these offers?
There is no one income cap or form for all these routes. Each has its own rules.
| Route | Main check |
|---|---|
| A paid carrier deal | The phone, plan, store, and offer terms |
| Walmart+ Assist | Proof of a listed aid program |
| School device help | The school’s rules and available funds |
| A local computer giveaway | The group’s area, needs test, and stock |
| Lifeline service | A qualifying benefit or household income |
A SNAP card does not turn a store phone deal into a free service plan. Nor does it prove that a store must give you a PC.
But proof of SNAP may help with other tech aid. Check the rules of the group that will provide the help.
Where to look if you need a free or low-cost laptop
First, ask your school or a group that gives out PCs. You may find help if a store deal costs too much. These routes are separate from Walmart’s sales.
Compudopt computer giveaways
Compudopt lets people sign up for a chance to get a free computer. Choose your city and read the local rules.
Its rules include a need for a working computer at home. Devices from school or work do not count for that check. But signing up does not mean you will get a device.
Also check the device type. For example, a free computer may be a laptop or a desktop. Choose a route that fits what you need.
PCs for People
PCs for People sells low-cost computers to people who meet its rules. Also, it accepts some forms of aid as proof.
Its income routes include income below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines or at or below 60% of area median income. Check the current rule and the proof it asks you to send.
These are that group’s rules. They are not a Walmart income limit, and they do not mean every PC is free.
If you receive food aid, our guide to laptop help with EBT covers more places to check. Use each group’s official site for its latest terms.
Schools and adult classes
Ask the school office or IT team about device loans. Some schools lend PCs for a term. Also ask about grants or aid based on funds and student need.
If you are working toward a GED, ask the course team before you buy. Our guide to GED classes and laptop help explains routes to explore.
Then ask when you must return the device. Also ask who pays if it breaks, and whether you can use it at home.
What if you need help with the phone bill?
A Walmart carrier sale may not be the right fit if you cannot pay each month. In that case, check Lifeline’s official rules.
SNAP or Medicaid may help you qualify. You can also apply based on low household income. Check the current income cap for your family size.
Lifeline helps pay for phone or internet service. But a free phone is a separate offer from the phone company. Ask which phones, if any, are free in your area.
Use USAC’s phone company search to check your ZIP code. Then compare the signal where you live, data, phone terms, and fees.
If you also need home access, read our hotspot and internet help guide. A laptop needs a way to get online; the device alone does not include free internet.
How to check and claim a Walmart phone offer
Start with the deal’s official page. Then use these steps before you pay.
- Pick the exact phone and plan. Check the model, network, and offer end date.
- Call the store. Ask if it takes part and has that model in stock.
- Get the full cost. Include the plan, tax, fees, and any extras you choose.
- Ask about your number. If you want to keep it, check the transfer steps first.
- Review the order. Save the terms, receipt, and proof that the line is active.
For a laptop sale, you place a normal retail order. There is no public Walmart free-laptop form to use in place of checkout. Apply to a school or aid group through that group’s own process.
Check a free-device claim before you share details
Use Walmart’s site or the carrier’s official site to check a deal. A logo on a post does not prove that the store backs it.
Be wary if someone asks for gift card codes to send you a prize. Read Walmart’s fraud tips for more on this type of scam.
Keep your EBT PIN and login codes private. Do not give them to someone who sends you a deal. Use the program’s own site to send proof of aid.
