You may be able to get a free Google Pixel phone through a qualifying carrier offer. Some Lifeline providers also list Pixel devices. However, approval for phone service does not guarantee a free Pixel.
The key is knowing what “free” covers. A carrier may cover the phone through monthly credits while you pay for service. A Lifeline provider may offer a device at no cost, but your choices depend on its current stock and terms.
Start with your budget, coverage needs, and eligibility. Then compare the full cost before you apply or switch.
Offers checked October 21, 2026. Prices, stock, and promotion terms can change.
What are the main ways to get a free Google Pixel?
| Option | Who it may suit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Lifeline provider offer | Households that qualify through income or benefits | Whether a Pixel is available, its condition, and any device commitment |
| Carrier phone promotion | People who can afford the required service plan | Bill credits, taxes, connection fees, and how long you must stay |
| Trade-in offer | People with an eligible phone to exchange | Final trade-in value and any remaining device cost |
| Bring your own Pixel | People who already have a working device | Network compatibility and the cost of service |
A $0 device price and a $0 monthly bill are different offers. Check both amounts.
Can Lifeline give you a free Google Pixel phone?
Lifeline helps eligible households pay for phone or internet service. According to USAC’s Lifeline overview, the federal discount is up to $9.25 a month. Eligible residents of qualifying Tribal lands may receive up to $34.25.
Participating providers set their own device offers. Some may include a free smartphone, while others offer a basic device, a paid upgrade, or service for a phone you already own.
Lifeline does not promise a Google Pixel model. Confirm the exact device and final price before you finish enrollment.
Who qualifies for Lifeline?
You may qualify if you or someone in your household receives:
- SNAP, also called food stamps.
- Medicaid.
- Supplemental Security Income, or SSI.
- Federal Public Housing Assistance.
- Veterans Pension or Survivors Benefit.
Certain Tribal programs also qualify on eligible Tribal lands. A qualifying child or dependent may help your household qualify.
You can also qualify through household income at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Check USAC’s eligibility rules for the route that applies to you.
For 2026, the income limits below apply in the 48 contiguous states, Washington, D.C., and territories:
| Household size | Maximum annual household income |
|---|---|
| One person | $21,546 |
| Two people | $29,214 |
| Three people | $36,882 |
| Four people | $44,550 |
Alaska and Hawaii have higher limits. USAC lists the full figures in its supporting documents guide.
Only one Lifeline benefit is allowed per household. People who share an address do not always form one household; the program considers whether they share income and expenses.
Which Lifeline provider lists Google Pixel phones?
AirTalk Wireless has a Google Pixel 6 product page. However, the page showed out of stock when checked for this article.
That distinction matters. A product page can remain online after a device sells out. Its existence does not confirm that you can order the phone today.
Enter your ZIP code on the provider’s official website and check:
- Whether a Pixel appears in your available choices.
- The price shown for your application.
- Whether the device is new, used, or refurbished.
- Shipping charges, return rules, and warranty coverage.
- Any service commitment attached to the device.
AirTalk’s device terms require 180 consecutive days of active service for covered subsidized devices. Ending service early can create a device balance or return obligation. Certain managed devices may have restrictions.
Those are provider device terms, separate from federal Lifeline eligibility. Ask how they apply to the phone you select.
If a Pixel is unavailable, compare the options in our guides to a free Samsung phone and a free Motorola phone.
Which carriers currently advertise free Pixel offers?
Carrier offers usually require paid service. Here are examples checked for this guide.
T-Mobile: Pixel 11 through monthly credits
T-Mobile’s Google phone deals include a Pixel 11 offer with no trade-in when you activate a new line on a qualifying Experience More or Experience Beyond plan.
The listed terms include:
- Up to 36 monthly bill credits.
- Qualifying credit and service starting at $85 a month with AutoPay, plus taxes and fees.
- A $35 device connection charge.
- Tax on the phone’s price before credits, due at purchase.
Credits may take two billing cycles to appear. The promotional line must remain active and in good standing.
Paying off the device early ends the bill credits under the listed terms. Before canceling the whole account, contact T-Mobile about the remaining credits and finance balance.
The offer can cover the device while leaving you with a substantial service bill. At $85 a month, 36 months of service alone comes to $3,060, before taxes and fees.
Google Fi: Pixel 11 discount and service credits
The Google Store offers page advertises a Pixel 11 promotion for new Google Fi users:
- $300 off at checkout.
- $599 back over 24 monthly bill credits.
- A separate $10 monthly service credit for two years on Unlimited Premium.
Select Google Fi during checkout. The offer requires eligible U.S. customers aged 18 or older and activation within 30 days of shipment confirmation. Taxes are payable at checkout.
Changing devices before 120 days can trigger a $300 charge. Canceling, pausing, or changing the Fi plan before 24 months ends the promotion and future credits.
The listed end date is November 10, 2026, at 9:59 a.m. Pacific, or while supplies last. Confirm the plan price and all terms before ordering.
AT&T: a discount may still leave a phone payment
A large discount does not always cover the whole device.
When checked, AT&T’s Pixel 11 page listed $10.99 a month after credits over 36 months, requiring a new line and an eligible plan.
That equals $395.64 in device payments, before service and applicable taxes. Treat it as a discounted phone offer when comparing your options.
Can you get a free Pixel when you switch?
Possibly, if you meet a carrier’s promotion rules. A switch offer may require a new line, a number transfer, an eligible plan, or a trade-in.
Check those requirements separately. Opening a line with a new number may not satisfy an offer that requires moving an existing number.
Before switching, ask:
- Does my current carrier qualify for this promotion?
- Must I transfer my number?
- Is the advertised discount available on my chosen plan?
- Will I owe money on my current phone?
- When do the new credits begin?
- What happens if I change plans or leave early?
Keep a copy of the offer and your order summary. A written record helps if the credits on your bill differ from the terms you accepted.
Do trade-ins make a Pixel completely free?
Sometimes a promotion can cover the device price, but the value depends on the offer and your old phone.
Google’s current trade-in terms say values depend on the device’s model, condition, year, and configuration, and can change after inspection.
Before sending a phone, compare the trade-in quote with what you could receive by selling it. Also check whether the credit arrives at checkout, as a refund, or across monthly bills.
Your old phone has value. Include it in your comparison even when the new device is advertised as free.
How do you apply through Lifeline?
Start with USAC’s Companies Near Me tool to find providers serving your ZIP code. Ask each provider whether it currently offers a Pixel.
Then follow the official Lifeline application process. You can apply online, by mail, or with help from a participating company. Residents of Oregon and Texas should use the state application routes linked by USAC.
You may need documents showing:
- Your identity.
- Your address.
- Participation in a qualifying benefit program.
- Household income, if you use the income route.
Submit documents through the official application channel. After approval, confirm the service plan, available phone, and final charges before completing provider enrollment.
Check the order confirmation for the exact model. “Free Android phone” does not identify a Pixel.
What should you check on an older Pixel?
Software support can matter more than a small difference in price.
Under Google’s Pixel update policy:
| Pixel models | Published update period |
|---|---|
| Pixel 8 and later | Seven years of operating system and security updates |
| Pixel 6, 6a, 6 Pro, 7, 7a, 7 Pro, and original Pixel Fold | Five years of operating system and security updates |
| Pixel 5a and earlier | No longer receive operating system or security updates |
The support clock starts when the model first becomes available on the U.S. Google Store. Buying a refurbished phone does not restart it.
Ask about the remaining support period, battery condition, screen damage, storage, and return window. A newer supported device may be a better choice for everyday accounts, schoolwork, and banking.
Can you use a Pixel you already own?
Yes, if the provider accepts the exact device.
Google explains that a phone must be SIM-unlocked to use another carrier’s service. Unlocking alone does not confirm every network feature will work.
Run the phone’s IMEI through the new provider’s compatibility checker before enrolling.
Also confirm SIM or eSIM support. Support depends on the model and carrier. Some U.S. Pixel models use eSIM rather than a physical SIM card.
Keeping a working Pixel could be cheaper than moving to a costly plan for a new device. Our Access Wireless service guide explains questions to ask about phone service and SIM options.
How can you compare the real cost?
Use the same time period for every offer.
Total cost = upfront charges + monthly service + device payments − confirmed credits.
For example, a plan that costs $25 more each month adds $900 over 36 months. That extra service cost can outweigh the saving on a free phone.
Include taxes, connection charges, optional insurance, and any balance on your current device. Check coverage at home, work, and school too.
For Lifeline service, check data and hotspot limits rather than assuming every plan is the same. If your service has no monthly out-of-pocket cost, USAC says you must use it at least once every 30 days to keep it active.
Is ACP still a way to get a free Pixel?
No. The Affordable Connectivity Program ended on June 1, 2024.
Old ACP phone advertisements do not establish a current offer. Lifeline remains a separate program with its own eligibility and service rules.
Which option should you choose?
A free Google Pixel phone can be a useful saving when the offer fits your needs. Start with Lifeline if your household qualifies, then verify whether a Pixel is actually available.
For carrier deals, compare the full service cost over the credit period. Confirm the taxes, activation charges, trade-in value, and rules for leaving early.
Choose a phone with useful software support and a plan you can afford. The best offer should help you stay connected without making your monthly budget harder to manage.
